Earthworm Dissection

We held our 2nd class in our dissection series this week.  Our first class was our Owl Pellet Dissection.  It was a huge hit.  This time we ventured into the world of earthworms.  Now before I go any further I should add that we do very laid back dissections...this is a chance for everyone to experience it.  You can participate or you can observe only, the choice is yours.  You get to go home with w worksheet detailing what you saw during our dissection to study on you own.

Owl Pellet Dissection

This class is extremely fun!! I encourage everyone to at least give it a try.  Even the ones who didn't think they would like it ended up thinking it was interesting.  While the kids were dissecting their owl pellets we went over a few fun owl facts, some facts about the animals the owls ate, etc.  We use bone charts to identify exactly what skeletons were in the pellets. We found several different animals and a few full skulls in our pellets.  The kids were super excited about that.

After class at home I even let the preschoolers have a go at it.  They loved it!!
