Peppermint Play-doh

To help us embrace the Christmas season and cooler weather we made peppermint scented play-doh.

Play-doh Recipe

  • 2 cups of plain flour
  • 2 cups of colored water (food coloring)
  • 1 tbsp. of cooking oil
  • 1 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 cup of salt

Put all of the ingredients in a saucepan and at this point add some peppermint oil.  I used the flavoring oil I had for candy making:-)  Turn on the stove and stir as the mixture heats up......  Try to get all the lumps out right at the first and then just keep stirring as it heats and becomes dough.  When it's done just take it off the stove, let it cool for a few minutes then knead.  At the end we added in some glitter (I used edible glitter just in case the little ones decided to taste) just to make it fun and snowy.

After you finish playing that first time remember to store it in a air-tight container or Ziploc bag.  It will stay fresh for the whole month and longer.
