Soap Clouds

Today we made soap clouds thanks to pinterest.  It's a super simple experiment that uses Ivory soap, I find myself wondering what is so special about Ivory soap because it is the only kind you can use for tons of Science experiments. The video above is pretty bad quality since I was filming through my microwave door and the turntable was on but it is still neat:-)  The pictures below go through the process step by step.
We have family in this week so the lovely girl thrown in the typical mix of boys is our Cousin, they are all waiting patiently.

Put the plain Ivory bar of soap on a piece of parchment paper and place in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, watch it closely this is the cool part.
When it is done it will look like this, a pretty fluffy soap cloud.

After it cools smash it up!!!

Then add a little water and use a mixer to make a paste like mixture, you can also add color at this point if you want but I just wasn't going there;-)

Then pack it into molds or cookie cutters and let it sit for several hours.

This was our interesting collection.

When it is dry pop it out of the molds and they have their own soap designs.

This was a super neat activity and we all loved it.  It was just really cool plus the kids got some really awesome soap for bath time!!
